Football, music and community come together at Marvel Stadium on 27 August.

What do a former Essendon AFL captain and one of Australia's biggest music stars have in common?

This month, they're both lacing up the boots for the Four'N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer to raise funds for vital research and patient care at the Australian Prostate Centre.

Former Essendon captain, Dyson Heppell, and Australian musician, Ruel, will take to the field this Thursday, August 27 as part of one of football's most entertaining events, bringing together sporting legends, big personalities and passionate fans for a great cause.

Tangerine is excited to be part of an event that celebrates everything Australians love about sport: community, connection and coming together.

For Dyson, football has always been about more than what happens on the scoreboard.

Growing up in Leongatha, football was where friendships were formed, communities came together and lifelong memories were created. While his career ultimately led him to Melbourne and 253 AFL games across 14 seasons, he says those early lessons about community have stayed with him throughout his life.

Ahead of the game, we sat down with Dyson for an exclusive interview to talk football, friendship, giving back and why "showing up" matters.

"People are so busy these days, but to be able to show up, support the cause and be present is really important." 

The Four'N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer gives fans the chance to see football greats back in action, but according to Dyson, it's what happens off the field that makes the event special.

"It's showcasing great talent, great camaraderie and the spirit of the game, but the biggest one is the opportunity for people to show up and show out for an amazing cause." 

Adding another exciting element to this year's event is Ruel, who will swap the microphone for a Sherrin and join the action under the lights at Marvel Stadium.

Bringing together stars from football and music; the event is a reminder of sport's unique ability to connect people from all walks of life.

Throughout our conversation, Dyson reflected on the friendships football has given him, the importance of supporting others and how even small actions can make a difference.

"When you bring people together for a fantastic cause, the ripple effect it can make is incredible."
