Australia’s leading challenger telco, Tangerine, has announced the renewal of its partnership with the National Basketball League (NBL), extending its position as the exclusive Official Telco Sponsor and Major Partner through to the end of the 2025/26 season.

The partnership cements Tangerine’s strategy of aligning with one of Australia’s fastest-growing sports and most digitally engaged fan bases.

The renewal reinforces Tangerine’s mission to deliver simple, reliable, high-speed internet and mobile services across metro and regional Australia, while building brand equity through highly engaged sports audiences.

Andy Branson, CEO & Co-founder of Tangerine and More said: “We’re thrilled to be renewing our partnership with the NBL, one of Australia’s fastest-growing sports. Just like the NBL, Tangerine is a challenger brand built on innovation, growth and community connection, so it feels like a natural fit to continue the partnership and grow alongside the league and its passionate fans.”

“The NBL gives us the opportunity to connect with fans right across the country from metro cities to regional towns and that’s exactly what our mission is at Tangerine, delivering simple, reliable, high-speed internet and mobile services wherever Australians need them.”

“We know sport plays a big role in the lives of Aussie families, and we’re proud to help them stay connected to the games and moments they love most.”

Tangerine and More COO & Co-founder, Richard Branson, said: “The NBL and Tangerine share a challenger spirit, both dynamic, disruptive, and driven by community, that’s why this partnership works so well, because we’re aligned not only in our ambition to grow, but also in our commitment to providing family-friendly entertainment and stronger connections.”

“Basketball is a sport that thrives on digital-first fan engagement, and Tangerine is proud to power that experience. From streaming the action to gaming and connecting with friends, we want to make sure families have the fast, reliable services they need to enjoy every moment of the game.”

“This renewal underlines our belief in the exciting future of the NBL and our shared vision to bring fans even closer to the sport they love.”

The renewed sponsorship will span broadcast integrations, digital campaigns and on-the-ground activations, tapping into the NBL’s rapidly growing national footprint.

This season will also see the launch of the Tangerine Slam Game, a retro style arcade basketball game featuring Peely dunking against his lemon nemesis.

Inspired by the Tangerine and NBL partnership, the game is designed to drive deeper engagement with fans. Built for both mobile and desktop, it can be shared across social media and will feature throughout the season in twenty in-game activations on arena big screens.

The game will also tie in with the popular Tangerine x NBL Dunk of the Week campaign.

Tangerine will also leverage its ongoing investment in faster fixed-wireless nbn® to extend high-speed internet access and strengthen engagement with fans across Australia.

“We're thrilled to renew Tangerine’s partnership with the NBL, Australia's fastest growing sporting organisation,” said Rick Van Emmerik, Tangerine and More’s Chief Growth Officer.

“Together we will create innovative campaigns and experiences that resonate deeply with fans with the aim to drive new levels of engagement in the sport, while we focus on building and expanding the partnership as we enter its second year. The collaboration will allow us to connect with even more fans across the country and highlight the strong connection between basketball and Tangerine."

NBL Group CEO, David Stevenson, said: “We’re delighted to have Tangerine as the exclusive Official Telco Sponsor and a Major Partner of the NBL.”

“Tangerine is focused on delivering great experiences to its customers across Australia and we’re thrilled to continue our connection. On behalf of the league, I’d like to thank Andy Branson and the team at Tangerine for their support and commitment to the NBL. We look forward to continuing a strong and successful partnership that connects with fans nationwide.”

Founded in 2014 by Melbourne brothers Andrew and Richard Branson, Tangerine has become one of Australia’s fastest-growing telcos. Its focus on affordability, reliability and simplicity has seen it build a strong national presence and a reputation for supporting digital lifestyles from streaming and online gaming to sports engagement.
