Let’s talk about account security

It would seem that scammers are getting smarter.

So we’re getting smarter too.

We’ve made some updates to how you log in and how we send messages, all designed to help keep your account safe.

What’s new?

Log in faster with passkeys
You can now use a passkey to log in to your Tangerine account.

That means no more entering codes every time.

Instead, you can sign in with:

•    Face ID
•    Fingerprint
•    Your device PIN

It’s quick, easy, and harder for scammers to mess with.

Extra protection with MFA
For certain actions, we’ll still double check it’s really you using a one-time verification code.

It might take alittle longer, but it’s worth it.

Smarter SMS messaging
There are also changes happening across Australia to help reduce SMS scams.

The SMS Sender ID Register has been introduced to help reduce scam text messages and make it easier to identify legitimate messages from trusted businesses.

From1 July 2026, businesses that send SMS messages using a branded sender name (such as “More”) must register that sender ID. Messages sent using an unregistered sender ID may show as “Unverified” or may not be delivered.

These changes are designed to make potential scams and suspicious SMS messages easier to spot.

Three quick things you can do today

1.    Keep your contact details up to date
2.    Never share verification codes
3.    Only enter codes when you’re expecting them

If a message feels off, trust your gut and reach out to us directly.

A little extra effort, a lot more peace of mind.

Security upgrades like passkeys and smarter messaging might add a step here and there, but they go a long way in helping to keep your account safe.

And that’s always worth it.
